The sounds of 10,000 horsepower engines will be roaring through Thunder Valley before we know it but the stars of NHRA Drag Racing will compete in a fun challenge for charity prior to the race.

The second annual Bristol Dragway Celebrity Shooting Tournament presented by NRA will take place at the Kettlefoot Rod and Gun Club in Bristol, Va. on Thursday, June 16 at 2 p.m. Proceeds from the event will benefit Speedway Children's Charities.

"This is a great event that both NHRA drivers and participants love," said Claudia Byrd, executive director of Speedway Children's Charities. "It's a unique event that will raise money to make a difference in the lives of thousands of children. We encourage everyone to register and come out and have a fun time with some of NHRA's finest."

NHRA drivers that will participate include eight-time Top Fuel world champion and five-time Bristol winner Tony Schumacher, two-time Funny Car world champion and defending race winner Matt Hagan, two-time Pro Stock world champion and two-time defending Bristol winner Erica Enders, defending Top Fuel Bristol winner Richie Crampton, local Pro Stock favorite Allen Johnson and Pro Stock driver John Gaydosh. More drivers will be announced in the next few days.

Each driver will be paired up with a team and compete in iron man competition (five stand, trap, sporting clays and skeet). Registration for the event is now open. Please contact SCC's Betsy Holleman at 423-989-6975 for more information.
